Community Solar for Maryland Commercial Properties

Lower your electric bill by subscribing to a local solar farm. No rooftop installation, no equipment, no upfront cost. Just monthly credits applied directly to your utility bill.

How Community Solar Works

Community solar lets Maryland businesses benefit from solar energy without installing panels on their property. Instead, you subscribe to a share of a local solar farm. The electricity generated by your share is fed into the grid, and you receive credits on your utility bill for that energy.

The program is available to BGE, Pepco, Delmarva Power, and SMECO commercial customers. There's no long-term commitment required, no installation or equipment on your property, and no upfront investment. You simply receive a monthly credit that reduces your electric bill.

Maryland Smart Energy partners with solar farm operators across the state to match businesses with available community solar capacity. We handle enrollment and make sure you're getting the best available rate for your utility territory.

Who Qualifies

Any commercial electricity customer in Maryland with an active utility account is eligible. There's no minimum usage requirement and no credit check. Whether you're a small office, retail location, warehouse, or large commercial building, community solar is available to you.

The only requirement is that your building must be served by one of Maryland's participating utilities: BGE, Pepco, Delmarva Power, or SMECO. If you're already working with Maryland Smart Energy on an HVAC or building tune-up, adding community solar to your energy savings strategy is easy.
